Hiroshima – a city full of culture and learning
As our time in Hiroshima was reaching its end, we were quickly eating breakfast, in form of a diverse buffet, to check out of our hotel in time. But there was one last point on our agenda.
After leaving the hotel, we put all of our things into the bus and headed for Miyajima island. While travelling, we learned about the rich history of Itsukushima shrine located on the island.
Apparently, dying, giving birth and killing, wich all have been considered an offense to the gods, are forbidden on the island.
The island itself is a beautiful oasis of peace. We were greeted by an adorable group of deer. Especially the famous „floating“ Torii gate is a marvellous piece of architecture of 12th and 13th century Japan.
We of course only had a japanese guide. But that gave us the opportunity to bond further with our buddies because they could translate everything. After we finished our tour of the shrine, buying charms and maybe even praying at the „Purikura“ we went to the train station to take the Shinkansen to Tokio.
Even this simple experience of riding a train made us reflect about the german railway system.
Arriving in Tokyo, after another buffet with different offerings, like our breakfast a couple of hours ago, for dinner break we quickly did our daily tasks and finished our day full of travel, japanese culture and learning.
