UN – United Nations

This morning, we had a very special meeting. We had the meeting at the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, a place of great historical significance and a symbol of peace and disarmament. The meeting was conducted by the UNitar. It was a special honor to discuss global challenges and shared solutions in such a meaningful setting. We took part in a role play where we simulated peace negotiations between different countries. Each of us represented a nation for example, Russia, America, or Israel. The goal was to agree on a peace treaty that included ending the war and releasing hostages. I was part of the Israel group. Our task was to be critical of the treaty. One of the key points was to end the war immediately, and another was to release all hostages. Our group was initially against signing the treaty, because as the instructor explained Israel was afraid that the other side wouldn’t actually release the hostages. Because of this fear, they were hesitant to agree to peace. In the end, we had to work together to find a solution that all countries could accept and then present it to the group. It was a really interesting and eye opening experience that showed how complex peace processes can be and how important dialogue is.
