Peace Boat

After the breakfast, and a short speech from a Japanese supervisor, the members of the „Peace Boat“ introduced themselves. They talked about what they do and that they started their first voyage in 1983. They ship every year three voyages and every voyage is 3 and a half months long. He told us he founded „Peace Boat“ because he wanted to visit China and Vietnam. Mr. Kawasaki, the founder of the „Peace Boat“, spoke a little bit about the history and about the Nanjing Massacre, where Japanese soldiers killed more than 200,000 people and he can‘t imagine something like this. That was the Nanjing Massacre. He told us also the story of a mother who lost her unborn baby because of a soldier who beat her. That shows one more time how brutal war is and that it is a very important task to all the people in the world to bring peace everywhere they’re going. He began to talk about the Vietnamese war and that the Americans used chlorine gas from Okinawa to kill the forest because the Vietnamese Kong rebels were hiding in the forest so that they can‘t get attacked by the Americans. He declared that Siamese twins were only born because of the use of that chlorine gas. After that speech of Mr. Kawasaki I think it was a young doctor who held a speech about atomic weapons and economy.
