Japanese Embassy & Scavenger Hunt 2

After the lunch, we had to hurry up to get the bus to the Japanese embassy in time. When we arrived there, we had to go through a security check, since the people working in the embassy want to make sure that we don’t bring dangerous objects onto the ground. This process took a lot of time and we had to wait in the hot sun. The presentation of the japanese ambassador was interesting to listen to. We talked a lot about the feeling of safety in our countries, propaganda of extremist parties and the cruelty of atomic bombs. I was really impressed by his language skills, since he speaks more than four languages!
To further explore Berlin, we participated in a second scavenger hunt. This time we had to figure out our route by an analogue map instead of the app we used the day before. It was a challenge, and even though my team couldn’t make it in time, we learned a lot about Berlin and the history of peace and war in Germany. The waypoints that I still think about are the memorials dedicated to queer people or the Sinti and Roma that were persecuted and murdered during the time of the nazi regime. Afterwards, we had a short break and then ate dinner.
